Any charitable analysis of Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter should include the observation that he has effectively worked past the "White boy mayor" status that former Mayor John Street had assigned to him because indeed he has found his groove.
This groove was NOT because:
- Economic development within the Black neighborhoods that I visited last week has kicked in
- The schools are now producing results
- The people feel safe as they walk down the streets in their own community
- Mayor John Street's Presence In Office Causes A White Journalist, Life-Long Democrat To Become A Republican For 8 Years, But Failed To Provoke The Black Unity Conference To Say A Word
- His (Mayor Street) comment at a 2002 NAACP dinner that "The brothers and the sisters are running this city" was appalling.
- Mayor Nutter is "not a black mayor ... just a mayor with dark skin" topped his "brothers and sisters" remark in hubris
In an effort to show the black community's disdain for Nutter, Street told of a black man who asked him if the city would ever have another black mayor. Say what?! Since when do you have to be "black" or "black enough" to be mayor of Philadelphia? Since when is the mayor's duty solely to the concerns of Philadelphia's African Americans? The above quote shows the character of "Black political discourse". The ONLY thing one needs to do is to APPEASE the BLACK CONSCIOUSNESS of the Black Progressive Fundamentalist. They won't look at the economic collapse of West Philly and the academic collapse of the schools. You are BLACK and this is enough for them. Just don't ask them to write down "what is BLACK" or you'll note a scene similar to the book "The Animal Farm"
The Dark Matter Analysis Technique For Analyzing Black Political Discourse
Normally an elected official that is presiding over a city that has so much squandered Black potential would not have the standing to impart his opinions on matters other than FIXING what has long been promised as the benefit to community's support for the machine.
Philadelphia is not normal.
I refuse to forget what I saw the Mayor Of Philadelphia do as he stood before a crowd of Blacks, angry that Republican Mitt Romney would dare come into "Obama's Neighborhood". Nutter understood that the people sought to be pacified by claimed failure in the top rated school system of Massachusetts instead of limiting his words to what Nutter would do to FIX their schools in Philly.
On my visit I went to the hollowed grounds where the "Upset Blacks" stood a few months ago.
The "Universal Bluford Charter School' is operated by music mogul Kenny Gamble. Mr Gamble should be credited for making note of a tragic situation around the city as it relates to education and housing and then deciding to "Do Something About It!!".
Unfortunately the problem resides with the "supporting cast".
In the physical plant of the "Universal Bluford" school I saw a building that was either a few years old or newly refurbished.
I would be remiss to note that with the absence of "broken windows" and "peeling paint" (see Jonathan Kozol's narrative) - the forces intent on explaining away the academic performance problems that are seen in schools like this one are forced to engineer another bag of tricks to successfully compel all who are watching that the deck is stacked against the people who enter through the front doors on a daily basis.

In their present consciousness - they could not bring themselves to see that their present condition is what THEY PURCHASED.
As "The Blacks" Go To 5601 Vine Street To The Obama Campaign Office - They NEED To Go To The "Daroff Elementary School" To Help Make The "Executive Order For Black Students" More Than A Piece Of Paper With Obama's Signature On It
It is clear that the "Obama Fist Bump Black Press" suffers from a lack of intellectual curiosity.
Did they ever wonder what the community assets around Obama's campaign office in Southwest Philly looks like and if the people are actually benefiting?

The real narrative behind Samuel H Daroff Elementary school that is not likely to be told is - IN 10 or 20 years after helping "Favorable People WIN" at the local, state and national level - will the economic numbers that illuminate the ECONOMIC PRODUCTIVITY among the people have changed substantially for an observer and critic to conclude that the people got a RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT, as promised.Unfortunately the standard political talking point within the Black community is of a CONSUMER orientation and thus the question that will most likely be asked is "This is what the Democrats have registered - YOU SELL US on what the Republicans could do that is any better and we will vote for them."
Shamefully, in the name of our ancestors - they can't bring themselves to see that their is indeed a channel for development that resides outside of the AMERICAN POLITICAL DOMAIN and that in their own BIGOTRY AND BLINDNESS they failed to see it.
What Is The Value Of One Young Ninja's Carcass In The Subornation Of Rebellion Against The Consciousness Of The Status Quo ?
WHYY Radio Times - (audio) Gun Violence In Philly - Victim's & City's Perspective
A careful listen to the audio at the link above shows the great amount of irony and misalignment that is present within the people who are suffering through the pain of a "plan that has failed".
I am still working on a graphical model that seeks to present and qualify the value that is represented by the gap between one's FULL POTENTIAL and the limit that OPERAITONALIZED UNCONSCIOUSNESS imposes upon a community of people.
If "A Dream Deferred" is a metaphoric vision that is clearly understood by Black people as the consequence that structural racial forces a young Black person to temper her expectations then the word that I struggling to come up with should have an equally jolting impact for those who have for too long gone along despite having concerns.
