The "Brevity Bigot"

The Brevity Bigot:

Quick definition for brevity's sake:

One who tells you that you are wrong instead of being able to tell you why you are wrong.

You see? I can be exact and to the point when necessary.

Some blog sites that I visit are stocked full of "brevity bigots".
The work exclusively off of the fact that their is the "prevailing theory" among their tag team mates upon the board. They are used to the blog master teeing up an issue that is dutifully slanted to advance the prevailing sentiment on the board and they allow the sharks on the board to feed upon the chum.

In fact, many of "brevity bigot's" thoughts are comfortable to them like water is comfortable to a fish. They know of no other existence. Throughout their lives they have been feed these messages and this is their norm. Their "adversaries" have been so marginalized by the people who have been providing them with mental nutrition that when they actually meet someone who "looks like them" but doesn't think like they are "expected to" - this causes a disruption to their vortex. Not even the painful reality of their own environment upon which they provide their words of grievance to every day is enough to cause them to question their own views in order to inspect if they are actually contributing to a fix of the problem or are perpetuating them.

So frequently we hear stories about the small town White kid who goes to college and then experiences the first Black person that he has ever seen in real life rather than on television. The resulting level of discomfort is noted with the story. The truth is there are an equally large number of Black Progressive Fundamentalists who have only been treated to characterizations of Black Conservatives like the ones put out about Clarence Thomas, Armstrong Williams, Condi Rice, Ward Connerly and Michael Steel. These people are talked about far out of proportion to their power and, most importantly their arrangement in the long list of other Black people who are favorable to their own ideology and who are actually running their communities.

I notice that when a significant portion of them are forced to step out from behind the wall of protection and argue their own points - this is when the "brevity bigotry" is too often seen.

They know that they have no particular requirement to defend their position. They only need to appeal to the latent ideological bigotry that is contained within the group within which they stand. They often attack the offending author personally or talk about who he is working on behalf of. Rarely is there a sound rebuttal of the offending opinions that have caused the "brevity bigot" so much consternation. The most frequent rebuttal is "This is why Black people don't like your kind. We don't agree with YOU." If popularity equaled effectiveness indeed I would need to be silent. In truth - their domination has not provided solution. It has only provided protection from introspection.

When I engage these type of people in discussing the question at hand I try to answer the question to my own satisfaction. It matters not that the person is accepting of my argument or if they are bigoted and don't want to hear it. My written word goes on record. If they don't agree, there are others who might come behind and may agree with me. I also hope that this third party will notice the weakness of this other person's arguments - or lack there of.

It is frustrating at times, I must admit, to spend my time to think about the real question (or scheme) that the person is trying to run (ie: "Could you tell me how the Black community would be any better if it was controlled by conservatives?") and instead put the issue on the right terms (ie: "Why do you ask me this question? It is not controlled as such and thus those who DO have the power need to be put on trial. NOT the conservatives who have no power within"). I try in earnest to answer all of the questions because, failing to do so their "So when did you stop beating your wife"-type questions are allowed to stand if they are not challenged.

After my structured defense against their claims - they (or their tag team partner) only need to issue their one sentence dismissal of my words to achieve satisfaction WITHIN THEMSELVES that they have successfully rebutted my words.
  • "You're and idiot"
  • "When I see your name I skip past your words"
  • "I agree with everyone on the board except CS. I read the first 3 lines of his post and got bored"

This is what the "Brevity Bigot" does.

You really need to seek help for this madness you've allowed to fester. The emperor has no clothing, this is all self-induced. There is no objective, no end-point. It's aimless! Yet, I don't believe that you are evil.

This sounds like a "Hit Dog Will Holla At Cha" response.

If it comforts you at all - I was not talking about the band of progressive on Booker Rising.

Happy?

CF, it wasn't a response of a hit dog. I was just expressing my concerns. As I said, I don't think you are evil, or nothing like that, as I suspect many Conservatives are. However, I can't find anyway to connect to your purpose, least of all figure out what it is.

If you place both sides of the political spectrum under the same magnifying glass then I would simply assume you to be a skeptic. You don't, you focus on black folks and liberal Democrats, period.

For instance this log of crime reports you've collected is racial and bazaar. The only place I've seen a similar collections is on White Supremest web sites.

Like Tyrone who lives in baltimore focuses his post on crimes committed by people of color and then failed to mention the racist attack of and old man out fishing with his wife. Similarly, there was killing of an entire family of whites in a trailer park, near your home that you've not included in your collection.

CS, I've been following your blog for a minute now and truly enjoy reading it. I think you are on point with your commentary. Many are threatened when you challenge the way they have been trained to think. I see it all the time. That's why I don't post in a lot of groups, what's the point? Often when I hear these so called free thinking, progressives speak, I think of a line from Macbeth. "It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I can't help but notice someone said you don't play both sides of the spectrum, that you only focus on black folks and liberal Democrats and the killing of the white family that you did not include in your collection and I simply busted out laughing. If I'm not mistaken, it's your blog about politics, policy, pathology and hope WITHIN the black community? The operative phrase being "within the black community"? What does the killing of the family in the trailer park have to do with issues plaguing the black community? It doesn't, so then why would you write about it? It doesn't make sense but it did provide a great example of the brevity bigot!

Keep up the good work. You have a follower in DC.

"A fish don't know that he wet" was the line in a famous song.

The bottom line is that the BQPFRC sees their way of thinking as the ONLY WAY a 'Black person in good standing' (or who doesn't want his legs taken out from under themselves....BY THEM) should think.

There is a tremendous amount of "Ideological Bigotry" within the Black community. Many of them just don't give a hoot about the damage that they do either.

When they can show me the last time they told the NAACP or Jesse to be more balanced and focus upon Black people who harm the Black community - I will change.
